Yoga on a stick

the perfect marriage of body/mind/spirit/nature

No doubt, Stand Up Paddling offers a great core body workout when done properly.  This strengthening of the body is beneficial, yet I seem to enjoy the opportunity to cultivate flexibility on the board as well.  Yoga on a board, tethered and in flat water, offers a perfect platform to cultivate stability/balance.  Most of our two hour classes last year took the option to try yoga near the end of their training.  Many commented on the joy and peace found when just laying in rest position on their board, hands dangling in the water, hearing the lapping sounds of water against the board.  For me it’s a fulfilling way to just ‘let go’, to tune into the body, to reduce the mental chatter, and find joy in the moment.

I’ve practiced hatha yoga and meditation for over forty years and provide instruction through my lesson program.  Additionally, we have a wonderful resource in Chris Coleman, yoga instructor and owner of Yoga Forest and Yoga Hus (www.yogahus.com) and SUP Yoga instructor Kelli Carlson (www.sup-poser.com).  We’ll be offering more yoga intensive workshops in affiliation with their expertise.  We’ve also got a SUP Yoga experience in the works, practicing as we float the St. Croix River.  For the White Bear Lake and North Oaks area we work with Life Core Yoga (http://lifecoreyoga.com/).  Owner/operator Allison is an avid SUPer offering several SUP Yoga experiences throughout the season.
